STREAMLINE

I just listed this vintage coffee cup for sale on my Etsy Shop - SHTOOK
This is the Streamline design by the Salem China Company of Ohio.
I believe it dates from 1933.
I love this cup because it is such a great vintage design.
Something so old looking so very modern.
It makes me think of the Jetsons.
And mandarin orange is such a BOLD color for dinnerware.

I like to imagine the woman who chose this pattern.
She is one of the new Feminists.
She probably smokes cigarettes and opines about politics.
She dreams of traveling by Airplane to exotic places.
She shows a little more leg than her neighbors think appropriate.
Her hero of the day is Amelia Earhart.
She jots down a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt in My Day;
"Women are like teabags.
We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water!"
She smiles as she sips her tea, she can only imagine....

SHAMROCKS

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY

I love this one day of the year when everybody is Irish.
I used to think that I was Irish-ish on my grandfather's side...
He did look like an overgrown leprechaun and my hair is red-ish...
He always claimed to be Irish but I will have to do more research.
He may have had Scottish roots. As in Ulster-Scots,
the Scotsmen who lived in Northern Ireland. Big difference.
But no matter, because today, I feel Irish.

HAPPY NEW YEAR...

I love this vintage Scandinavian postcard
but I do not have the faintest idea what it is about.
Eye color + lucky charms + love = Oiensprog???

No, it's øiensprog

All I found was the definition: Eye Language,
which might mean either how you communicate with a look
or how the shape of your eyes define your personality traits.

If you know, I'd love more info on this!

CHRISTMAS 2009

My Kitty loves Christmas!

The Dr. Seuss wreath.
I made this from a feather boa!

My tiny pink Christmas tree.
Bought this in Vegas a while ago!
Domo thinks it's just perfect for him.

My wall Christmas tree.
Inspired by department store decorations from the 1960's
and a serious lack of space.

My kitty basking in the Xmas glow.
